If you are looking for a vigorous adventure high above the clouds, our mountaineering experience will surely leave you breathless. Our exhilarating climb includes the two highest volcanoes in Mexico, Nevado de Toluca and Pico de Orizaba (the 3rd highest peak in North America). Nevado de Toluca, with a summit of 15,390 ft., is Mexico's fourth highest peak and offers some of the best views and non-technical climbing in the country. Nevado looks down on a crater that contains two pristine takes (Laguna de la Luna and Laguna del Sot). Our final quest will be the magnificent 18,409 ft. summit of Pico de Orizaba, the highest peak in Mexico. This challenge is an excellent introduction into high altitude climbing.
Our first stop will be Nevado de Toluca. Here, at 15,390 feet, we will loosen up and get acclimatized. We wilt climb the South Ridge that surrounds the crater towards the summit and take in a spectacular view of the Mexican plains. After a good day of climbing, we will we will drive back to Toluca, and stay in a hotel. Our next challenge will be the 3rd highest peak in North America, Pico de Orizaba. This giant snow capped volcano is 18,851 feet high. Many climbers bound for the Himalayas come to Pico de Orizaba to train for altitude. We guarantee an amazing experience climbing via the North face. We wilt begin the first day hiking towards the Piedra Grande hut at 13,776 feet. We will establish a high camp at the shoulder of the glacier and get ready far our big day. The "Summit Day" will begin early in the morning so we are able to reach the summit in time to ascend back to the hut. We will be greeted there by 44 vehicles to take us back down civilization.
Note: While not technically difficult, these climbs are physically demanding and strenuous. We take even the smallest details in consideration: acclimatization, food, weather and working with you to strengthen your skills. That's why our summit success rate is 90 % of our attempts.
